Austria

We crossed the border from Czech to Austria in the afternoon. We just drove through the country and had only one short stop in a small town called Freistadt and a couple in the Alps.

Freistadt

Freistadt is a small historic town in Upper Austria. We made a short walk in the old town.

Austrian Alps

Slovenia

It was already evening and dark when we came to Slovenia. We drove to Kranj, a town close to Ljubljana, and had dinner. Also, we looked for a place to stay overnight.

Kranj

We had a good dinner and the waiter recommended us a small guesthouse outside the town. That was the only time on this trip when we accommodated in a guesthouse or hotel.

Southwest Slovenia

From Ljubljana we drove south to the Croatian border. We used small roads as we didn't want to buy the highway sticker. We had some talks about visiting also Trieste in Italy but as time was scarce - as always - we decided to go straigth through to Croatia.
